Mariah Hernandez-Fitch is a filmmaker born and raised in Dulac, Louisiana, and a citizen of the United Houma Nation, a tribe she continues to engage with and remain connected to. Her work is shaped by her relationships to South Louisiana, family, land, water, memory, and the lived realities of coastal loss. She graduated from Dartmouth College with a degree in Film and Media Studies and completed her master’s in American Indian Studies at UCLA. She is currently in law school at Tulane University, and at A Studio in the Woods, she hopes to spend time developing a written anthology that will live alongside a documentary project concerning coastal Louisiana.
