Lydia Gutowsky is a multimedia ceramic artist from Minnesota. Drawing inspiration from structures and systems that surround us, she makes forms that echo playgrounds, trees, and oil refineries while experimenting with clay collected from the Mississippi River. Having moved from the head of the river in Minneapolis to its mouth in New Orleans, she is looking forward to using her time at the Studio in the Woods to deepen her relationship with this portion of the waterway while making work that responds more directly to this distinct landscape. Lydia is currently pursuing her MFA at Tulane University, where she is expected to graduate in 2027.
