Ramesh is an environmental epidemiologist whose research examines the health impacts of environmental exposures, including extreme heat, air pollution, and green space. His long-term goal is to advance environmental health in meaningful ways while also training the next generation of public health researchers. During his postdoctoral training at Tulane University, his work has focused on understanding the morbidity and mortality associated with extreme weather events such as floods, tropical cyclones, and heat. At A Studio in the Woods, he will be working on a manuscript investigating the combined effects of heat and humidity on inpatient hospitalizations across Louisiana from 2010–2022, as well as the potential for residential green space to buffer these health risks. This research integrates climate, environmental, and hospitalization data to inform equitable, nature-based strategies for climate adaptation and public health protection in Louisiana.
