Sweetie Magee is an artist on a poetic journey to inspire through rhyme. Spending years behind the scenes as a background vocalist and songwriter, Sweetie began sharing the raw, unfiltered narrative of her experiences through spoken word at local open mics, and featuring in showcases throughout the southern region. Her poetry resonates, encouraging others to embrace their authenticity while facing and dismantling the barriers of her own experiences with imposter syndrome. Ranking in the Top 25 woman poets in the nation after competing in the Women of the World National Poetry Slam in Baltimore, MD, she created a competition platform to help poets in New Orleans generate a profit from their craft, and sharpen their skills through the Best In The Room Poetry Slam. She assumes many roles as an actor, vocalist, host, creative director, and mother, Sweetie intends to use the Replenish Residency to inspire new projects and focus on developing written works including The ABCs of Puberty, a preteen poetry publication, and Mics and Mirrors, a collection of poetry.
