Her work includes a personal essay called “Pretty Weird,” which was published in Ink in 2017, and a short story collection called Ugly Good, which won A Studio in the Woods Residency. This prize is given to an Outstanding Senior in Creative Writing. The award describes: Emily has written a short story collection, “Ugly Good,” for her honor’s thesis that shows remarkable range and a consistently exciting voice. She is a brilliant portraitist whose writing is full of apt details, acidic humor, and arresting insights. During her residency, Emily worked on a fantasy novel called Flight & Flame. It focuses on issues of memory, identity, and responsibility.
