Angel Ohome is a first-generation Nigerian-American born and raised in the American South. The framework of their art is formed by the combination of intuitive flow and ancestral memory, which addresses questions of lineage, confinement, and healing. Trained in ceramics, their artistic practice is a modality of therapeutic release through the exploration of the senses, especially through physical touch. Ohome aims to leave a physical mark on their pieces, often through their unique fingerprint indentations, which not only imprint a genetically unique pattern but also the lineage that has allowed for such a pattern to form and survive. During the residency, Ohome took time to rest and dream with the specific goal of creating a body of work for an interactive art exhibit that will focus on clay as a healing modality.
