Marko Salvaggio is an environmental sociologist and Visiting Assistant Professor of Sociology in the Department of Sociology at Tulane University. He also teaches social sciences courses for Tulane’s School of Professional Advancement. Prior to Tulane, he was Assistant Professor of Sociology and Environmental Studies at Goucher College in Baltimore, Maryland. He holds a PhD in Sociology from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

Marko’s current research explores social dilemmas related to climate change, including understanding how coastal urban communities experience and deal with increasing floods, as well as the lack of access to safe water and sanitation. He worked on a manuscript that draws from his research on the topic in southeast Africa and an edited book volume that brings together multidisciplinary scholarship researching how different communities perceive, experience, and cope with climate-related social issues.
