TINYisPOWERFUL is a creative place online, a community hub and an interracial, intergenerational collective effort linking artists, cultural workers, youth and tiny business partners to support and promote TINY BUSINESS as a vital part of neighborhood and commerce. In the fall of 2022, Victoria Moore, Gwylene Gallimard and Rayn Rainey spent a week in residence to work on the project through a collaboration with Alternate ROOTS’ Partners for Change program.

Victoria Rae Boynton Moore is a writer, producer, facilitator and co-founder of TINYisPOWERFUL. As a multi-racial Black woman native to Charleston, SC with Black and Indigenous roots also in Georgia and Alabama, Victoria studied dance at Charleston County School of the Arts, earned a BA in journalism and public relations from the University of South Carolina and is committed to social change through the arts.

Gwylene Gallimard’s art projects, often with J-M Mauclet (JEMAGWGA collective) include French cafes (one, Fast & French is downtown Charleston); art installations and participatory projects about the health insurance industry, the fast food phenomenon, homelessness, gentrification and wilderness. They include “33 Gorenflo Gap”, “The Charleston/Atlanta/Alaska Challenge”, “The Future is on the Table”, ”Olympia”, “Conversations With Time”, “Ten more years on Penn” and “conNECKted: Imaginings for Truth & Reconciliation” among others. In 2018-20 JEMAGWGA co-led “conNECKtedTOO”, a project that received an ArtPlace Award. Additionally JEMAGWGA has received grants from Alternate ROOTS, the National Endowment for the Arts, SC Arts Commission, Expansion Arts Fund, Spoleto Festival USA, We Shall Overcome Fund, Puffin Foundation. Gwylene’s specific medium ranges from 5 miles of ropes to words, canvas, video or snow. She has been a member of Alternate ROOTS since 1994. In 2018, she was selected as a ILI fellow.

Rayn Rainey is the creative assistant to TINYisPOWERFUL. They co-lead the podcast “I Like My Tea Sweet” and zine “843?”. At this time Rayn is focused on art, graphic design, spirituality, sustainability, self care and collecting cute/pastel pins.
