Nelson used her residency to collect and commission images of water landscapes in Southern Louisiana rendered in oil-based media. She then subjected the images to Corexit, the disperant used in the Gulf during the Deepwater Horizon oil spill cleanup.
Emily Nelson Corazon is currently living and working in New Orleans, Louisiana. She graduated in 2010 from University of Virginia with High Distinction in Studio Art and worked as an Aunspaugh Fellow in the McIntire Department of Art. Formerly a first-grade teacher, she now works in a teacher support role, helping new teachers get their footing.
