Hannah Pepper-Cunningham has been creating performance work in New Orleans since 2009. A member of Mondo Bizarro from 2009-2018, Hannah served as co-artistic director of training programs and collaboratively developed and performed in “Cry You One” and “The Way at Midnight.” Through “Cry You One,” Hannah worked with the Gulf Future Coalition and Another Gulf is Possible. With Last Call: Queer Histories/Queer Futures, Hannah co-created “Alleged Lesbian Activities,” originating the character of MC Privacy. Hannah’s work often incorporates fiddle music from Cajun, classical, Irish and Old Time traditions. A member of Southerners on New Ground and Alternate ROOTS, Hannah organizes in multi-racial, multi-issue coalitions for racial and economic justice and LGBTQ liberation. A 2008 magna cum laude graduate from Brown University, Hannah has trained with Double Edge Theater, Odin Teatret, the Catalyst Project and the Arts and Democracy Project.

In collaboration with New Orleans-based artists and organizers; performing artist, musician and social movement organizer Hannah Pepper-Cunningham worked to create “Carbon, Capture”, a touring performance and workshop that engages people to shift their relationships of care and responsibility in the era of climate change. Drawing on Hannah’s work in live performance, actor training and traditional music; the performance and accompanying workshop are built to support organizing in multiracial movements for climate justice in the Southeast.
