Temporary Marketing Consultant Fall 2026 

We’re looking for a marketing whiz to join our team as a contractor from September 8 through December 21 to provide discrete support for our annual festival, FORESTival, and end-of-year fundraising. Upon agreement, this position may be hybrid.

A Studio in the Woods is a Tulane University–affiliated residency program located in a protected forest on the Mississippi River in New Orleans that provides retreats for artists and scholars to imagine bold, creative responses to the challenges of our time. 

Dates and Hours: 

  • September 8 – October 1: Approx. 5 hours per week 
  • October 2 – December 21: Approx. 15 hours per week 
    • Note: The week of November 9  is our festival and will require additional hours, including all day Saturday, November 14
  • Approximately 200 hours total 

Compensation: $40 – $50/hour based on experience. 

Responsibilities: 

Project manage and execute an existing communications and publicity plan for our 16th annual FORESTival: A Celebration of Art and Nature. 

  • This will include: 
    • Finalizing and sending out pre-drafted press materials  
    • Drafting and sending several e-newsletters using MailChimp 
    • Updating our WordPress website as needed  
    • Project managing the completion of several printed materials 
    • Creating and posting social graphics as needed on Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn 
    • Day-of FORESTival support on Saturday, November 14 
    • Managing a silent auction and disbursing gifts to winners 
    • Other relevant duties as assigned  

Project manage and execute an existing year-end fundraising campaign.

  • This will include: 
    • Finalizing and sending out printed and online materials 
    • Drafting and sending e-newsletters for Giving Tuesday and mid-December 
    • Creating and posting digital content to amplify fundraising campaign 

General Programming Support

  • This will include: 
    • Creating, editing, and posting social content (~five posts per week) suitable for Instagram and Facebook   
    • Amplifying current and former residents’ work, as needed  
    • Meeting weekly with the Managing Director to report on progress and questions
